Dear Kindred Spirit,
At last, warmth is in the air. Cherry blossoms are blooming outside my door, and in Gippsland this weekend the yellow river wattles were a beautiful sight.
The soothing warmth evokes memories of my latest adventure - can you believe I've travelled to beautiful Sri Lanka and back since we last spoke?
My journal is crammed with jottings about the people I met, the exotic spices I sampled and my experiences at the magical Greenfield Tea Estate high in the mountains of the Uva district.
As soon as I've deciphered my notes, I will share my stories with you.
In the meantime, I hope you are enjoying my blog about my White tea trip to China - what a rich and full year this has been so far. And now we've come to the end of September, it is only going to become busier, starting with ‘Girls' Nights In' around the country.

Special offers to share with the man in your life
|
|
Speaking of September, how did you celebrate Father's Day?
Is your father the unsung hero in your life? Was he the one who made up wonderful bedtime stories, cheered you up when that boy let you down and waited patiently outside parties at midnight to bring you safely home?
I get a thrill out of making my dad feel special - and at 88 going on 89 tomorrow; he very much appreciates some good French home cooking, and a little fuss. Tomorrow we start with 'Écrevisses à la Bordelaise'.
I have a special offer for newsletter subscribers which you may like to use to treat your dad.
From now until Monday the 8th November, when you buy either my Earl Grey Twist 100 or Signature Blend 100 pack with elegant storage tin, you will receive $10 off, and pay only $25.00 plus postage.

These offers are available exclusively through my online boutique. Enter promotional code OCT for your discount.

It's such an elegant event - house-made scones, pastries and finger sandwiches, served to our table on three-tiered silver stands. There's a glass of sparkling wine and, of course, a delicious selection of teas; including a very fine first-flush Darjeeling.
It's easy to enter. Buy two Madame Flavour teas from your local store between Oct 4th and 25th and e-mail the barcode numbers and

New blend...a Penny for your thoughts..
|
|
Inspired by my travels and yearning to get back to the basics I love, I am creating a new herbal blend, experimenting with exquisite flavours including South African Honey bush, violet, vanilla, and ginger; and a Rainbow blend of calendula, mint, hibiscus, nettle and juniper berry which in spite of some unusual ingredients is a delight.
Which of these wondrous concoctions appeals to you the most? Do take a moment to visit my home page and vote for your personal favourite.
I am also tinkering with English Breakfast and Earl Grey Twist blends. Intuitively I have felt that these needed a little feminising as well as greater strength.
Being longer leaf teas they do not have the strength of the smaller teabag grades. So I will increase the amount of tea in each pod, and add a little feminine touch to my ‘Earl' who may well become a similar (Addictees do not panic) yet more delicious ‘Lady'.
Let me know

I feel a book coming on..

That reminds me, please keep your lovely stories coming - I am thinking about putting together a little book. More about that later...

Something to think about..and perhaps to get involved in..
|
|
Lately I've been reflecting on the privileged position I find myself in. Not only do I have a place to call home, a perfect partner in Matthias and a joyous little one, but I get to express my passion, creating something that deeply satisfies me.
What is particularly satisfying is that as Madame grows to a slightly more comfortable place; I feel the stability and desire to contribute more actively to others; to provide that same nurturing, and sense of surprise and delight (which is our mission) found in a cup of tea and a kindred connection, to people who have been abandoned and forgotten.
I've been reading 'Half the Sky, How to Change the World', a challenging and inspiring read about the horrific conditions women face in many developing countries and some incredible individuals who have taken a stand for change.
I am in retreat at the moment, allowing my many thoughts on this to settle. I trust that a way forward will emerge. I will let you know what that is and invite you to be involved.
You have made this possible and are far more than a customer; you are generous, authentic souls who have joined me for this journey, who understand, and who have made it so much more than a business.
If this inspires something in you, an idea, or a connection with your own dreams or something you are already up to,

Until next time. Thank-you all so much for your support. And enjoy the sunshine.
